Tidy Den: Terms of Service

Last updated: October 19, 2026

1. Who we are and what these terms cover

Tidy Den ("we", "us", "our") is an online store run by Travis Vanderveen, a sole proprietor based in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We sell household tidy products and pet accessories through our Shopify store.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply when you visit our website, contact us or place an order. When you place an order, you agree to these Terms and to our Shipping Policy, Returns & Refunds Policy and Privacy Policy, which are part of these Terms. If something in these Terms conflicts with one of those policies, the policy that gives you more protection applies.

To place an order, you must be at least 18 years old (the age of majority in Alberta), or you must have a parent or guardian's permission.

2. Our products and how to use them

  • What we sell. Our products are everyday household goods and pet accessories, such as pet-hair rollers, litter mats, rechargeable lights and home items. They are not medical devices or veterinary products. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease or condition in people or animals.
  • Use as directed. Please read the product page and any instructions or labels that come with your item, and use it only for its intended purpose.
  • Supervise your pets. Always supervise pets around any product. Pet accessories aren't toys unless we clearly say so. Check items regularly for wear or damage, and stop using anything that's damaged. Keep small parts, cords, packaging and bags away from pets and young children.
  • Rechargeable items. Charge only with a standard USB power source and the cable provided or an equivalent one. Don't charge an item that's damaged, wet or swollen. Don't leave charging items unattended for long periods.
  • Candles (where sold). Follow the safety warning label. Never leave a burning candle unattended, and keep it away from pets, children and anything that can catch fire.
  • Your responsibility. You're responsible for using, storing and supervising products properly and for deciding whether a product suits your home and your pets. That doesn't change our legal duty to sell products that are safe, of acceptable quality and as described.
  • Product images and descriptions. We try to describe and photograph products accurately. Colours can look different on different screens, and photos may be representative. If an item arrives materially different from its description, our Returns & Refunds Policy covers you.

3. No veterinary or professional advice

Content on our website, emails, social media and customer support (including tips, how-to guides and FAQs) is general information only. It isn't veterinary, medical or other professional advice. If you have questions about your pet's health, behaviour, diet or skin and coat, or about whether a product suits your pet, please talk to a licensed veterinarian.

4. Safety concerns

If a product causes, or nearly causes, an injury, burn, fire, overheating or battery problem, stop using it right away and email us at tidydenshop@gmail.com with your order number and photos. We take safety reports seriously and may need to report them to Health Canada under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act.

5. Orders, pricing and errors

  • Currency and taxes. All prices are in Canadian dollars (CAD). Prices include standard shipping within Canada. Applicable taxes (GST/HST/PST) are shown at checkout before you pay.
  • Order confirmation. After you order, we'll email you an order confirmation. Under Alberta's Internet Sales Contract Regulation, we'll email you a copy of your order contract within 15 days. A contract is formed when you complete checkout and we send the confirmation.
  • Availability. Products depend on availability. If an item becomes unavailable after you order, we'll let you know and give you a full refund for that item (or a replacement if you'd like one).
  • Pricing and listing errors. Mistakes can happen. If a product is listed at an obviously wrong price or with wrong information, we may cancel the affected order and give you a full refund, even after confirmation. We won't charge you more than the price you agreed to at checkout without your consent.
  • Right to refuse or cancel. We may refuse or cancel an order if we suspect fraud or misuse, if the shipping address is outside the area we serve, or if we can't verify payment. We'll give you a full refund for anything we cancel.
  • Payment. Payments are processed by Shopify Payments. We never see or store your full card number.
  • Discounts. Discount codes and promotions follow the terms shown with them. Only one code per order unless stated. They have no cash value.

6. Shipping, delivery and customs

Our full Shipping Policy has the details. In short: - We currently ship within Canada only, and standard shipping is free. - Processing: 1–3 business days. Delivery: usually 8–20 business days after processing (rechargeable lights: 12–20 business days, because battery items travel on approved battery shipping lines). The delivery window for your items is shown on the product page, at checkout and in your confirmation email. - Some items ship from our partner warehouses outside Canada (mainly China). Every order is tracked, and we'll email you a tracking link. - Customs, duties and import taxes: Some items ship from outside Canada. Import duties or fees may be charged by the carrier on delivery. If you receive a notice asking you to pay, contact us at tidydenshop@gmail.com before paying. We will review it and, where appropriate, cover or refund the charge. - Holidays: we'll post order-by dates where we can, but we can't guarantee holiday delivery. - Alberta buyers: the stated delivery date is the end of the delivery window above (8–20 business days after processing, or 12–20 for rechargeable lights). If your goods aren't delivered within 30 days after that date, you may cancel your order under the Internet Sales Contract Regulation, and we'll refund you within 15 days of cancellation. Customers in other provinces may have similar rights under their own laws. - Risk of loss: we're responsible for your order until it's delivered to the address you gave us. Please double-check your address. If a parcel goes back to us because of an incorrect address, we'll work with you on reshipping or a refund.

7. Returns, refunds and cancellations: 30-Day Happiness Guarantee

Our full Returns & Refunds Policy has the details. In short: - Damaged, defective, not as described, or not happy? Within 30 days of delivery, email us a photo and your order number. We'll send a replacement or a refund. - For most items we don't need the product back. - Change of mind on unopened items: return within 30 days. You pay return postage, and we'll give you the return address. Please don't send items back without contacting us first. - Refunds go to your original payment method. - Cancellations: free any time before your order ships. Refunds for valid cancellations are issued within 15 days. - These promises are in addition to any rights you have by law, not instead of them.

8. Limitation of liability

  • To the fullest extent allowed by the laws of Alberta and Canada, our total liability for any claim relating to a product or order is limited to the amount you paid for that product or order.
  • To the same extent, we're not liable for indirect or consequential losses (for example, lost time, lost profits or loss of enjoyment) that weren't a reasonably foreseeable result of our breach.
  • Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes:
  • any rights you have under the Alberta Consumer Protection Act (including the Internet Sales Contract Regulation), the Sale of Goods Act (Alberta), the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act, or any other consumer law that can't be waived by contract;
  • any statutory warranty or condition that a product be of acceptable quality, fit for its purpose and as described, where the law doesn't let us exclude it;
  • our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or misrepresentation, where the law doesn't let us exclude it.
  • If any part of this section isn't allowed where you live, it applies only as far as the law allows.

9. Things beyond our control

We aren't responsible for delays or failures caused by events we can't reasonably control, such as carrier or customs delays, severe weather, strikes, pandemics or supplier outages. If this happens, we'll keep you updated and offer a refund or replacement where appropriate. This section doesn't reduce your cancellation and refund rights under the Alberta Internet Sales Contract Regulation or our policies.

10. Intellectual property

All content on our website, including text, product descriptions, photos, videos, logos and the "Tidy Den" name and design, belongs to Tidy Den or is used with permission. Please don't copy, reproduce or use it commercially without our written permission. Sharing a link to our product pages is fine. Third-party brand names, if they appear, belong to their owners. We aren't affiliated with them unless we say so.

11. Reviews and content you send us

If you post a review, photo or comment, or send one to us, you confirm it's honest and that you have the right to share it. You give us a free, non-exclusive licence to show it on our website and social media, with your first name or initials only. We don't pay for, write or edit reviews to change their meaning, and we don't remove genuine negative reviews just because they're negative. We may remove content that's offensive, unlawful, off-topic or contains personal information.

12. Privacy

How we collect, use and protect your personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy (PIPEDA), which forms part of these Terms. In short, we use your information to process orders, provide support and prevent fraud. We send marketing emails only with your consent (CASL), and every one has an unsubscribe link. You can ask to access, correct or delete your information by emailing tidydenshop@gmail.com.

13. Website use and third-party links

Please don't misuse our website, for example by attempting to hack it, scrape it at scale, place fraudulent orders or interfere with other shoppers. Our website may link to third-party sites such as carriers' tracking pages or Shopify. We're not responsible for their content or practices.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example when our products, policies or the law change. We'll post the new version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Changes don't apply to orders you've already placed. Your order is governed by the Terms in effect when you placed it.

15. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. If you have a problem, please contact us first. Most issues can be fixed quickly by email. If we can't resolve it, either of us may bring the matter before the courts of Alberta. If you live in another province, nothing here takes away any right you have to bring a claim in your own province or under its consumer protection laws.

16. General

  • If any part of these Terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest stays in effect.
  • If we don't enforce a term right away, that doesn't mean we've given up the right to enforce it later.
  • These Terms, together with the policies named above, are the full agreement between you and us about your use of our store and your orders.
